The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a two-year educational programme taught in three languages (English, French, Spanish) aimed at non-university students between the ages of 16 and 19. It was founded in Geneva (Switzerland) in 1968 by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB).
It is currently taught in 3,180 institutes, 907 public and 838 private, in 127 countries, with more than 600,000 students (April 2008).1 Successful completion of this baccalaureate allows access to different universities around the world affiliated with this programme without having to take, in most cases, entrance exams.
